Your Questions, Answered

  • 1. Book online — no referral required New patients can book directly through our website. Same-week appointments are typically available. Telehealth visits available statewide; in-person visits available upon request.

    2. Your 60-minute new patient visit This is not a typical specialist appointment. We spend the full hour reviewing your complete headache history. This includes what you've tried, what's worked, what hasn't, and what's been missed. You leave with a clear diagnosis, a treatment plan that's specific to you, and a direct line to follow up.

    3. A plan you can actually follow We manage everything from acute rescue medications to preventive therapies including CGRP medications and Botox injections for chronic migraine. We handle prior authorizations and work with your insurance to access the treatments you need — even as a cash-pay practice.

    4. Ongoing, personalized care Follow-up visits are designed to assess your response, adjust your plan, and keep you moving toward fewer headache days. You're not starting from scratch at every visit.

  • I also happen to be a migraine patient myself. I know what it feels like to be dismissed, to cycle through medications that don't work, and to wish someone would just take the time to figure out what's actually going on.

That's exactly what we do here.

HMS was built around one belief: that people with headache disorders deserve a specialist who has the training to help them and the time to actually do it. Every patient gets a thorough evaluation, a personalized treatment plan, and a provider who is reachable when things change.

  • HMS is a cash-pay practice. Here's why that's worth understanding before you rule it out.

In an insurance-based practice, a specialist visit is typically 15–20 minutes. That's not enough time to understand a complex headache history, let alone build a real treatment plan. By operating outside of insurance billing, we're able to offer the kind of appointment that migraine patients actually need; unrushed, thorough, and focused entirely on you.

    New patient visit: $250 | Follow-up visits: $175

We accept HSA/FSA, credit card, debit card, Zelle, and ACH. Payment is due at the time of service.

Superbill for reimbursement: After your visit, we can provide a superbill, which is an itemized receipt with all the billing codes your insurance needs. You submit this directly to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. We recommend calling the member services number on your insurance card before your visit to ask about your out-of-network benefits.

Medication costs: Many CGRP medications (Emgality, Aimovig, Nurtec, and others) have manufacturer patient assistance programs that can significantly reduce out-of-pocket costs. We proactively manage this for our patients.
